It was a long time ago. Fair and wise ruler
Khoja ruled the Adyghe people at those times. The ruler had a son. His name was
Khodjok, which meant the son of Khoja. Khojok founded a new village and began to
live there. And everything would have been alright if not for an evil giant
Rufabgo who came to that land. He started doing everything that an evil giant
does: taking away beautiful girls, stealing cattle. And nobody knew how to
defeat him. So Khojok went to sage Mezmai to ask for good advice. The old man
carefully listened to the ruler, gave him something in a parcel and said,
'Challenge the giant to a fight near the Stone Bridge. When he comes, ride as
fast as you can up the river. The giant will follow you and that's when you
should undo the parcel. After that you can do with Rufabgo anything you want –
he will become blind. But to defeat him, you have to take his heart and throw it
far up the mountains.'
Khojok thanked Mezmai and went back to his village. When the time of the battle
came, he did everything the sage had told him. And there he was already riding
farther and farther along the river, but evil Rufabgo was coming closer and
closer to him. Then Khojok undid the parcel. And there was a handful of Adyghe
ground in it. A fresh mountain wind picked it up and threw it into the giant's
eyes. That was when Khojok grabbed the giant's heart and threw it as far up the
mountains as he could. It fell down into the river and even now you can see the
giant's stone heart there in the waterfall...
And above it, as if washing the heart, the largest waterfall on the river called
Lace comes down in a narrow stream from the height of about 15 meters.
When it is raining or thawing, a peacefully glittering creek may turn into a
terrible flow that moves boulders and uproots trees. The plunge pool under it is
up to 10 meters wide and up to 2 meters deep. The water in this pool is a bit
rough and constantly whirling until it reaches the edge of the lower terrace and
makes its way downstairs as a waterfall over the ledges of thin limestone
layers.
The video shows the Lace Waterfall in serene weather. It picturesquely falls
down from heights producing a humming noise. Those who love waterfall scenery
will highly appreciate the beauty, harmony and composition of the picture.
